A simmering football transfer dispute between Kakamega School and Musingu High School has resurfaced, with the two Western Region powerhouses locked in a fresh row over player transfers between the institutions.
The latest dispute centres on four players reportedly moved from Musingu to Kakamega School in 2026. Musingu has reportedly lodged a complaint with the Regional Director of Education (RDE), raising concerns over the circumstances surrounding the transfer of the four students. The school is also reported to have raised an alarm over an alleged incident involving the players at Malinya, with claims of an attempted abduction forming part of the concerns presented to authorities.
The latest controversy mirrors a similar dispute that erupted in 2024, when Kakamega School complained to the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) over the movement of nine of its football players to Musingu. Kakamega reportedly alleged that the nine players had been recruited without the required transfer forms and that the movement breached regulations governing the number of players allowed to transfer between schools during a season.
The two cases have now created an intriguing transfer pattern between the traditional football rivals. In 2024, nine players moved from Kakamega School to Musingu, while four players moved from Musingu to Kakamega School in 2026.
